Alison Silva is a self-taught artist. Her work is filled with make-believe worlds and fantastical beings--both human and beast alike--who innocently gesture at the childish games adults play while embracing a provocative femininity. The dreamlike ambiance surrounding her paintings is at times reminiscent of popular fairy tales, yet her penetrating strokes and use of color and texture creates a brand of folklore all her own. The children and creatures inhabiting these wonderlands confront us with the parody of progress. Her fiercely courageous and humble creatures flock her canvas safeguarding her child-like warriors entangled amid a dark and deteriorating environment, though always offering glimpses of laughter and light.

Alison has exhibited her work across the country and abroad, including private collections throughout Europe and Asia. She has shown at various galleries including Galerie Belage, Ward Nasse Gallery, Gaia Arts Studio, Guild of the Black Eagle Artist Collective, GAGA Arts Center and the Full Moon Arts Center. Currently, her work is featured in a documentary film " Taming The Art Daisies and Lions" by A Dog's Day Productions and is working on a children's book.
